FAO CAA Yr 1: Invisible Cities #14 (Remnants)

Wintergatan - Marble Machine (music instrument using 2000 marbles)

  Wow!

CAA The Tune: Guardians' Inferno

Oh, what camp, ironic marvellousness is this?  For any soon-to-be year 2 students enjoying this, welcome to the wonderful world of postmodernism! (Now where did I put my flares?)

CAA One-A-Day: Wonderful

"This video is a story of unrequited love between an enchanting, sweet, ball of pubic hair and the woman who, unknowingly jilts him at the plughole for another (human) man with beautiful hair - causing our hero to spiral into a jealous rage that leads to his untimely and tragic demise." Yes - really! Francobollo | Wonderful from Mad Ruffian on Vimeo .

CAA One-A-Day: Are You Lost In The World Like Me?

This is very bleak.  It's also a music video.  It might just be a documentary. Are You Lost In The World Like Me? from Steve Cutts on Vimeo .

CAA One-A-Day: Pretty Polly

Okay, so not precisely animation, but in light of Year 2's 2D zombie rig and seeking to highlight simple ways of telling stories engagingly... watch and enjoy, and then be sure to watch the 'Making Of', which is utterly delightful and inspiring! Fan.tasia - Multiple Disney films in one mind-blowing edit

Hope everyone's having a great summer. Enjoy!

CAA One-A-Day: ABC

From London artist and freelance animation director Alan Warburton , an unreleased music video for Ludovico Einaudi’s track ‘ABC’ from his 2015 album Elements . Produced in October 2015 over six weeks. “The piece involved assembling over 5,000 CG figures into a series of geometric sculptures and was inspired by the work of Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943), the Norwegian sculptor after whom Oslo’s Vigelundsparken is named. Vigeland produced over 200 sculptures for the park in bronze, granite and cast iron.” (I was drawn to this on account of its sculptural simplicity and calm - enjoy). CAA One-A-Day: UGO

"Illustrator McBess has released his first 2D animation, a dark 1920s-style cartoon to accompany the release of Ugo, the new single by his band Dead Pirates. The video brings to life the delightful yet ghoulish world of McBess’ illustrations, clashing cutesy characters with sinister themes. A drum forces a perma-smile while hitting himself in the face, and hula dancers wiggle hypnotically alongside others cloaked in sacks, while a Mickey Mouse hand gives the middle finger. The happy imagery mixed with more sadistic happenings makes it all the more eerie."

CAA One-A-Day: Burn The Witch

At last we have the answer to the question, "What do you get if you cross Trumpton with The Wicker Man? " Radiohead 's creepy video for their latest, Burn The Witch ...

CAA One-A-Day: Be So Glad

"A snowy night in New Jersey and some skeletal matchmoves lend an otherworldly aura in this stark and unvarnished music video from PostPanic’s Brooklyn-based director Fons Schiedon for jazz drummer and crossover artist Jaimeo Brown’s track called “Be So Glad.”

CAA One-A-Day: I'm Not Coming Back

CAA One-A-Day: Witch Doctor

A wonderfully creepy, hypnotic and menacing music video for De Staat 's Witch Doctor track - and a handy 'making of' too! Making Of

CAA One-A-Day: ZHU - Paradise Awaits

Watched it, liked it, sharing it!

CAA Misc: Sia - Elastic Heart feat. Shia LaBeouf & Maddie Ziegler

I'm sharing this video for Sia's Elastic Heart  featuring Maddie Ziegler for no other reason than it's been a long time since a music video has stopped me in my tracks and made me actually watch it. So often, music videos are little more than sexist wallpaper, but this is a very different beast. Predictably, this video has attracted outrage and bluster in terms of its apparent paedophilic vibe (read Barbara Ellen's article here for a much more sensible response).  For me, I was astounded by how raw and confrontational this video is; how laid bare, and discomforting - and mesmeric.
