Computer Animation Arts

Welcome one and all to this latest edition of the Computer Animation Arts Post With The Most, which has an end of term feel about it; the computer suites are certainly quieter - though our tenacious third years remain welded to their respective work-stations, as they prepare for their stint at New Designers 2015 (more about this later) - and the corridors and stairwells have lost some of their bustle.  You can still find a smattering of year two students camped out in front of our computers, as they complete work for their internships with Butch Auntie , and recent ad-hoc film screenings of The Silence Of The Lambs , Twelve Monkeys and The Goonies have even enticed some first years back on campus. All the way back in February, my first year students had their first encounter with the always exuberant Dr Peter Klappa , bioscientist at the University of Kent , who commissioned them to devise and execute their very first CGI animation.  It was a daunting task - ...

POST NUDE is a biennial exhibition at the Horsebridge Centre , Whitstable. The premise is sweet and simple: nudes in all mediums with one format in common - the diminutive dimensions of the common or garden postcard. As part of their weekly life-drawing class, our year one students swapped A1 sheets of cartridge paper for the confines of pristine postcards and consigned to them the likeness of their life model model in pen, ink, charcoal, paint and pastel.  You can see all of their respective efforts here . POST NUDE 2015 is on now at the Horsebridge, and I paid the exhibition a visit today to further celebrate our students' contribution.  It was wonderful to be surrounded by wall-to-wall nudes, and with so many styles represented, it's a smorgasbord of style, expressiveness and idiosyncrasy.  The show is on from May 4th to June 28th, so plan an art-themed trip to the seaside while you can - there's no shortage of 'saucy postcards'! ...
