August is a tricky month, what with everyone clinging onto the holiday mood, but with one eye on their calendars because they know .  They know busy times are looming.  They know the wheels are  moments from turning.  People are poised to power-up again, and no more so on Computer Animation Arts , as September sees the kick-off of the new academic year... But we're not there yet.   This edition of the PWTM is more of an amuse-bouche than a main course, reflecting as it does the more relaxed pace of the Summer holidays, but reflecting too that none of us truly disappear into a box over the holiday period. Our all new first years are yet to enrol, but many of them are already getting stuck into their inaugural Summer Challenge.  They're already sending me their blogs - the first batch are available here - and below is a sneak peak at some of their creations; so from left to right, we have thumbnails from Charlie Serafini (44,48), Kayliegh ...

The last of the graduation champagne has been quaffed, the Computer Animation Arts baseroom is deserted, and thoughts at last turn to flip-flops, sun cream and a few days off...  Just enough time then to reflect on some of our recent successes, beginning with New Designers 2014 . New Designers 2014: Finale

As per tradition, the final day of New Designers 2014 was characterised by sauna-level heat and humidity, and come 5.30pm, a frantic rush of frenzied dismantling.  A huge thank you to all our exhibiting graduates, who, after an exhausting show, distinguished themselves further by remaining cool, calm and collected - and also by being rather handy with a screwdriver!   New Designers always ends as it begins - with a white van.  We have Simon Holland to thank for being our 'white van man' - but of course, he's much more besides. New Designers 2014 has been a very successful show - with 2 awards and a much admired stand.  An official show write-up will appear on the blog shortly, showcasing some of the pro photos taken for us by UCA colleague, Chris Marchant.  Until then, this is a solemn instruction to everyone who was involved in the show: 'Relax!' Chrissie finally succumbs to the heat... ...
