GLAS Animation Festival 2019 now open for submissions!  'GLAS Animation Festival takes place March 22-25, 2018 in the historic city of Berkeley, California, just a quick ride away from San Francisco. We are introducing new ideas and expanding the scope of animation by bringing new voices, new talents, new themes, and a new generation of independent filmmakers and curators to the United States. We highlight fresh voices in independent animation while curating special programs of the most significant periods of animation history that serve as an inspiration for contemporary animators. At GLAS Animation Festival we have a complete competition program for best Narrative, Non-Narrative, Undergraduate, Graduate, and Commissioned short films.' Full details on how to submit  HERE

Another day, another festival announcement!  We've just learned Red & The Kingdom Of Sound is a nominee at the Redline International Film Festival in two categories - Best Animated Short and Best Music (though we can't really take the credit for Britten's score!).  Congratulations to the whole team.   More updates as and when!

You may have read in the last Post With The Most that Red & The Kingdom Of Sound had made the official selection for Le Petit Cannes Film Festival and our animated adaptation of Benjamin Britten's The Young Person's Guide Of The Orchestra had earned some laurels! We've just learned Red is a finalist in the festival's animation category - congratulations to the whole team!

I recently asked Jamie Denham, of London-based Sliced Bread Animation , how important he thought it was  to promote yourself on social media... he said that although this is an important aspect, it is just as important to network with peers and studios.  He has suggested a Facebook group, called  Festivus , which highlights festivals and presents job opportunities... join the group today! Fest Anča International Animation Festival  Registration open until February 25th 2018. Competition Awards –  Anča Award (800 EUR)  for the best short film of the festival –  Anča Student Award (400 EUR ) for the best student short film –  Anča Music Video Award (400 EUR)  for the best music video –  Anča Kids´ Award (400 EUR)  for the best short film for children –  Anča Slovak Award (600 EUR)  for the best Slovak short film –  D Award (distribution prize)  for a Slovak short film Only short animated films  –  completed after January  1,  2016 and submitted with English subtitles  –  are accepted into the Festival’s competition program . Hi, for any of you who don't know me I'm Deanna Crisbacher. I'm going to be entering my third and final year of CAA this upcoming September and I will be graduating in 2018. I wanted to share my experiences with submitting to film festivals to hopefully encourage others to do so. The final project for Year 2 of CAA is 'Adaptation B' - where students chose what they wanted to adapt into what...for example a book or poem into an animation, character or digital set. I always like this time of year on Computer Animation Arts . There's a constant humming sound emanating from our busy creative community. It's like shoving your ear against a beehive! At time of writing there are just 33 short days before submission day and everyone has their eye on the prize (and on the clock).  Blogs are lighting up with updates and everyone is engaged in their most ambitious project thus far. Our Year One students have been commissioned by Dr Peter Klappa, lecturer in bioscience at the University of Kent.
