The Supplement: Lawrence Yang

This artist is one that heavily influenced my sixth form work. I love his use of bright water colour backgrounds with the contrasting black ink on top. He has a lot of recurring characters and shapes but I just think they're beautiful, especially the way he incorporates the movement of the ink to create them. " His backdrops are ethereal and surreal; his creatures are full of charismatic wonder; and his finishing touches always add emotive elements that keep you coming back for more. With workmanship that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese painting, graffiti street art, and pop surrealism, Lawrence cleverly refers to his style as “Pop SurrAsianism" ." You can go to his official website here and watch his blog here . This would probably have been more appropriate for the previous project but it's just something bright and pretty to look at to cheer you up :)
