The Tim Burton Pokémon project is a creative, self-directed venture from Illustrator Vaughan Pinpin who uses the online moniker of HatBoy . Working on the project in his own time, his ultimate outcome for this endeavor is to-re-design the original 151 Pokémon in the visual style of Tim Burton. Pinpin is currently on the count of 63 Pokémon in total, and a few examples of his creative work can be seen below, with the rest of his lovable designs available for viewing on his online blog here.
Summary: Edward Scissorhands tells the story of a young man with scissors for hands who is discovered living alone in a large Gothic castle after his creator suddenly dies of a heart attack. Production designer Bo Welch uses a German Expressionist style for mysterious castle that sits above the clinical, undisturbed 1960’s styled suburban American town below. By doing so, Welch achieves a unique look for the film that defines it as both a very contemporary fable and magical fairytale at the same time. Analysis: “The psychological effects of colour can be harnessed in film design to suggest mood, plot developments and character. Key colours can be attributed to people or places. There's not enough animation on the CGAA group blog! In addition to all the course announcements, problem-solving and work-related stuff, I'd like to see this space used to showcase animation of all kinds, for all tastes. I'm proposing that we should aim for 'one-a-day' - to keep us culturally fit and healthy and well-informed! There's 70+ of us, and we're all looking at different stuff all the time; between us we should be able to populate this blog with great content. So, if you encounter something new and interesting, or simply want to share an old fave, then share it here. Use the 'one-a-day' image to preface the post and use labels for your posts too - i.e. 'one-a-day', 'animation' and give the animation title and animator or studio.
