CGAA Design: Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid Known for her simplistic and modernist design aesthetic, Zaha Hadid has not only regenerated the boldness of British architecture but also left her mark as one of the most successful women in the world. Her designs go beyond the world that they inhabit, often extruded from bold intersecting lines which rise from her drawings into the world, overlapping and creating new forms within an old space. This is the key principle in Hadid's work, regenerating environments in a positive way. She firmly believes that design and architecture change lives, after all, these small worlds in which we live affect everything we do to an extraordinary degree. "Buildings need to do another job, enlighten people, space enlightens the same way as music art and technology." [1] Berlin, Germany - 2000 Masterplan The commercial buildings that come from the studio of Hadid stand out among the norm of British architecture. But these final solutions are on...

CGAA Misc: Adobe Kuler

Found this in my travels - Adobe Kuler http://kuler.adobe.com/#themes/rating?time=30 , a website with a massive archive of colour palettes. Handy little tool for when you're stuck for colour ideas. Because it's user generated content some palettes are good, others not so much, but stick to 'highest rated' or 'most popular' and you'll be okay.

Concept Art: Up (2009)

Go here for a mouth-watering selection of concept art for Pixar's Up (2009), courtesy of the great Living Lines Library blog.

Post With The Most 12/02/2012

And so it begins.   Well, more accurately, it began two weeks ago, with the CGAA Spring semester sloughing - albeit reluctantly - the flab and excess of Christmas and revving up - albeit slowly - for the final push.  There's snow on the ground, but it won't be long until the cherry blossom is out on the hill and the temptation to bask cat-like in the sunshine competes with blinns and polygons for your time and attention.   It can be a challenge to find your creative mojo at this time of year, as author Anna Quindlen observes;  "February is a suitable month for dying.  Everything around is dead, the trees black and frozen so that the appearance of green shoots two months hence seems preposterous, the ground hard and cold, the snow dirty, the winter hateful, hanging on too long."  (Quindlen, 1995).   What better time then, for a look back at your recent accomplishments, to derive satisfaction from goals met and battles won and the determin...
