Post With The Most 27/10/2013

Welcome back!  The leaves are patchworking the pavements, the clocks have gone back, and the new academic year is already five weeks old. Incredible. Why, it only seems like yesterday that we were heading off into the August sunset after an award winning New Designers 2013  and an animated extravaganza at the Civic Hall - happy, if knackered - and now look, here we go again; brand new faces, brand new challenges, and a brand new Post With The Most . Not that our new first years can really be said to be 'new' anymore, not now they've completed their first project and survived their first undergraduate crit.  I'd say their feet were well and truly under the table.  As for our year two students, they're already three projects deep, while our final year students are balancing their minor projects and their eight thousand word dissertations.  Suffice to say, it's pretty busy in the CGAA suites - and getting busier. CGAA Misc: Morphopolis

Morphopolis is a computer game created by two architecture graduates Ceri Williams and Dan Walters distinguished by its densely detailed, near-psychedelic environments.   Morphopolis 's micro-landscapes have been hand-illustrated - and the craft shines through.  Part William Morris, part Yellow Submarine, the world of Morphopolis is a bejewelled, immersive delight. FAO CGAA Year 1: Online Colour Scheme Designer

In light of your OGR feedback and Photoshop classes, many of you have been encouraged to think much  more creatively about the use of colour in terms of your 'concept art for animation'.  Animation loves expressive, expressionistic colour schemes, but putting effective combinations together can be a bit daunting.  However, if you want to accomplish worlds as rich and ravishing as the examples feature below, you should make use of this very useful Online Colour Scheme Designer - from which you can export colour swatches into Photoshop ready-to-use.  Just follow the export instructions on the original post and get stuck in.  It's high time you committed to colour.  I want to see some colour wheel fireworks!  Have fun!
