Trailer: The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug (2013)

The Hobbit Now A Trilogy!?

Okay - you may have picked up on this already, but Peter Jackson has confirmed that his Hobbit adaptation is going to be a trilogy - yes, that's three films spawn from a book a little over 300 pages.  Now, I like Peter Jackson; his Lord of the Rings films are pretty much pitch perfect (I'll forgive him the endless goodbye scenes in the final instalment), so is this an instance of a director following his instincts, perhaps knowing deep down that the existing story beats don't quite fall as they should, or is this something cynical and multiplex-facing?  Cinema is in an odd place at the moment and it's easy to feel as if the bean-counters have won over artistic credibility and enterprise... I guess we'll find out soon enough... You can read more here.

Full Trailer: Tintin - The Secret Of The Unicorn

This is a movie from an extraordinary team: Spielberg, Jackson, Moffat, Wright, Cornish... phew! And yet, I'm still unmoved by what I see in this new release trailer for Tintin. It's still coming off as a little bit 'dead-behind-the-eyes' if you ask me...
