FAO CAA Yr 1: Invisible Cities Formative Feedback @ Your myUCA Accounts

Your Invisible Cities proformas are now at your myUCA accounts. This is the first time you will have received feedback, so read it very carefully. Then read it again! Remember, this grade is formative - it is for your guidance only, and it's my way of expressing the concrete reality of course expectations while there's plenty of time and opportunity for you to improve what you need to improve and achieve something extraordinary. As I've said many times already, my interest now is in ensuring that come the end of term and your WIM summative assessment, you are more confident, more skilled, more organised, and more professional.  No standing still please and no sulks. If in doubt, look at the assessment criteria - and then read my feedback all over again. Obviously, if you do have any questions or if there's anything I've written you don't quite understand, let me know - but no email rants please. If you haven't received your feedback, leave...

FAO CAA Year 1: Invisible Cities 2018 / What Is An 'Art Of'?

As part of your Invisible Cities submission requirements, you're being asked to produce an 'Art Of'. You'll be asked to submit an 'Art Of' document for all your forthcoming projects, so there's no time like the present in terms of getting the hang of them. Your Art Of is a curated exposition of your pre-production, production and final piece. curate: 1) to take charge of (a museum) or organize (an art exhibit): 2) to pull together, sift through, and select for presentation exposition: 1) a comprehensive description and explanation of an idea. In other words, your Art Of is the 'edited highlights' of all the work you've produced in the working-up and execution of your 3 Invisible Cities paintings.   You need to create your Art Of with the uninitiated reader in mind ; it needs to explain the brief (succinctly), introduce Calvino (succinctly), introduce Invisible Cities (succinctly), and introduce us to your city...

FAO CAA Yr 1: Environment / Invisible Cities 2018 / Previous Student Work

And so it begins, ladies and gentlemen - your first undergraduate project brief, and your first foray into the fast-paced, high-energy culture of Computer Animation Arts! I'm not alone in looking forward to seeing how you respond to the challenge of your Invisible Cities project, but before you get stuck in, just take a few moments to take a look at these examples of previous student work. By clicking on their names, you'll be able to view all blog posts associated with their respective Invisible Cities projects. Don't get preoccupied with the polish of the final paintings, give your attention instead to their methodology - that is, how they arrived at the final three paintings. Review their research and reflect on its presentation.  What impresses about their work?  What might you do differently?  Take time to think about the ways in which the students have organised, presented and published their bodies of work.  Happy browsing!
