Author - in - Residence : 'Art & Making Of' - What to include in yours

This post is designed to give you a guide on what to include in your 'Art & Making of' Books.  I personally own a bunch of really cool 'Art Of' and 'Making Of' books for different films and animations that I love and when it comes to preparing the same books for my own projects I wanted to dissect what I find appealing about each different layout types and what is relevant to this level of work.  Below will be a list of pages that, if graphically designed to flow with your own projects could make a really cool, hold in your hand, printed document of all the hard work that went into your work. • A Cool Cover • Inset - Concept Art (Normally a piece of concept art to fill the page with a lower opacity) • Book Title on a page • Contents : Chapters - Pre-production - Production - Post Production - Conclusion - Acknowledgements • Inset • Back Cover For Example : When I make a book for 'How Winnie got her False Teeth' here ...

Time For CG to Get Noisy!

I've already sent a message out to all you lovely people I have on the Facebook, but in case I'm not cool enough to have you on there or I just had a memory fail then here's a post about it: Thanks to some cunning string pulling from Phil, the Post With The Most was recently posted on the UCA Facebook page here . Any other ideas are much appreciated! Andi's already suggested that we could have our own Facebook page too. Thoughts below! :D

Liam Scarlino: A Distinction For The Digital Sublime

Liam Scarlino graduated from CGAA in 2010... ...and completed his Masters Degree in 2011, which culminated in Liam devising an installation exploring and expressing 'The Digital Sublime', which earned him a Distinction.   Liam is something of a renaissance man, a freelancer who moves confidently between different mediums - illustration, photography, film, animation, installation and performance.  Showreel 2011 Liam's interdisciplinary way of working was already evident during his three years on CGAA.  One of the course team's enduring memories of Liam is the time, as a first year, he dressed as a red blood vessel and green-screened himself into a cgi simulation of an artery while playing a miniature guitar... Follow Liam's blog here and visit his website here .   A while back, I invited Liam to share with the CGAA community his experience of CG Arts - a survivor's guide. It proved a very popular post, prompting lots of ...
