And here it is... out with the disco palette and in with something more austere...

Looks like Guardians Of The Galaxy is influencing more of the Marvel universe - which is clearly no bad thing.  This sequel looks tremendous fun!

As Kong: Skull Island roars onto cinema screens everywhere, a timely reminder of the enduring appeal of a certain over-sized gorilla and his kin... 1933 1949 1961 1962 1967 1976 1986 1998 2005 2017

Okay, so not very Christmassy at all... but this fanboy can't help seem to help himself - even after the disappointment of Prometheus...

So, what have we got here? Lots of highly seductive, expertly machined trailers for films that look keen to break the recent spate of blockbuster-sized 'meh'.  Personally, I think Hugh Jackman looks very fetching with a beard, Fassbender might get me to finally watch a game-to-film adaptation on the big screen and Verbinski's A Cure For Wellness looks wonderfully uncanny.  As for Guardians 2 - well, all I can say is bring it on, because the first one was the most fun I've had at the cinema for an age.  Ah trailers - the victory of hope over experience!

A selection of all the latest animation and VFX blockbusters on their way to a multiplex near you...

More CGI annihilation and city-killing fetishisation courtesy of Independence Day 2 ... Note Jeff Goldblum's knowing meta-reference 'They like to get the landmarks' ...

... and this one is directed by former UCA student, Gareth 'Godzilla' Edwards!

The haters will hate, but this is shaping up to be a guilty pleasure...
