CAA: The Supplement: Anime and the Rise of Otaku Culture by Fredrik Knudsen

These film essays by Fredrik Knudsen explore the entangled history of anime and Otaku (Geek) culture in Japan. They explore the growth in societal problems such as the 'Hikikomori' (social withdrawal) and how creators of anime have used direct marketing to fulfill the resulting growth in (postmodern) niche tastes.

For year 2, these are an extension of the some of the things I mentioned before the screening of Paprika (2009).
