Photoshop Classes Returning Monday!

Dearest First Years! I know you are all in the midst of a deadline as you all cram to get storyboards and animatics completed, but, it's time to let you know about the return of Photoshop classes. From Monday 23rd February, Photoshop classes will begin again.

However, this time, they will be separated somewhat from your project work. Rather than giving you a space to develop project ideas, these new classes are aimed to give you a chance to improve as artists. They will be more like life drawing or animation classes, where you will be given exercises to help you try out new techniques and improve at old ones. So, this will mean still life, master studies, composition layouts, gesture studies and much much more. It will also hopefully give us a space to move between sketchbooks and digital.

Essentially, we want to give you more space to be artists outside of a project brief. To give you a chance to explore different techniques and hopefully find a space between digital and analogue. If this makes no sense, then give this a watch...

The most creative animation studios give their artists space and time to work outside of projects, to keep exploring and developing as artists. This is the core idea behind the whole class.

Before it all kicks off however, I'd love your feedback. So...

What key things would you be interested in trying out? What aspect of your work are you most keen to improve?

I've spoken to a few students about this, but if you have any suggestions, leave a comment and I'll see how we can fit it in. This extends beyond digital, so if your ideas are more traditional (sketchbooks / painting / still life drawing) then let us know and we'll see what we can do.

  1. Absolutely love that film...I'm going to put my shirt and tie on and go out oil painting in a forest! Excellent.

  2. Glad everyone is excited. And I completely agree Alan. Maybe we should all put on some 40's gear and go on a CAA painting trip!
