Things are Changing!

The Computer Animation Arts Blog is a central hub for the course, a hive of ideas, shared thoughts and inspirational work. It has been developing over the past few years into something quite extraordinary, but also, something that needed a little bit of control. It is for this reason that a redesign has been on the cards. We attempted to redesign the site a year or so ago, but this very subtle change mostly improved speed of browsing, rather than any great visuals. Now, it's time for a big visual change to go along with the new course name. As you can see, things have already been put in to place and the site is stripping back to a simple, clean and smooth reading experience. We want to make reading, watching and viewing the priority. A gallery space for sharing and discussing amazing work.

The new update will roll out slowly over the next few weeks, with new icons, changes in formatting and small adjustments here and there. Some older posts may look a little funky and there may be a few bumps in the road, but we hope that this new approach will set the tone for a future blog filled with amazing content in an easily digestible format. For now, here is an example of how images and videos may look in the future. Check out the exciting Firewatch demo below...

Firewatch is a mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness, where your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio.

In Firewatch you play as a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot and dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor, a woman named Delilah, is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio — and is your only contact with the world you've left behind.
But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the world, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making interpersonal choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.

At a later date, I'll be posting a guide to blogging in this new format, just a few simple rules to make sure video, images etc look great on the site. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned to see more exciting changes.
