  1. Looks like I'm going to have a new favorite Disney movie!!

    1. It looks very 'smart-alec' and sassy, doesn't it? But also, for my tastes at least, a bit generic-looking somehow? Where's the bold expressionism of Fantasia, or even the 'Be Prepared' musical number in The Lion King?

    2. I do wish they stayed away from the 'Tangled' look - the main girl is clearly Rapunzel and Max makes another appearance - I'm worried that it may hurt Tangled if this becomes a flop. But lets not judge too quickly, there maybe the snippets of magic and musically numbers that we all love and expect from Disney that just wasn't shown in the trailer.

  2. I don't want to be a grumpy old cynic...but it just looks so bloody uninspired and flat. No charm or character. Just bad punch lines and a "by the books" set of characters. I guess it's selling to a different audience, but what ever happened to the magic?

    1. I agree completely! I didn't even enjoy the 'cute' characters and that's serious! I've not been too impressed with recent animations, although I did enjoy 'Rise of the Guardians' (I was a bit late to that party :P).

  3. It's too formulaic, I don't see any difference between this and any other Disney film. I'm in Two minds though, I did enjoy Tangled; but this looks like they've taken that films characters and put them in a different setting.

  4. Well, I'm more enthused now than I was after the teaser, but I agree that the aesthetics do seem to look a lot like Tangled - particularly the beginning shot with the ships and bridge in summer. I wonder if this is because they are afraid of pushing the style in case it loses the "disneyness' that was the big achievement of Tangled; it would be nice if they'd been a bit more adventurous though - like the way Mulan departed from the traditional "disney" look a little to blend in with the film world.

For me, the biggest dissapointment is the spoilers of the trailer itself - for example, did they have to give away the "the snow queen is my sister"? Even if that's established right at the beginning of the film, I'd rather find out once I'm in the cinema, rather than have what seems to be a dramatic reveal spoiled in the trailer.
