ReplyDeleteHi Paul, I don't want it to seem like I'm coming down on you but I've noticed this trend with students naming themselves a 'studio'. You aren't a studio, much less a group of studios as your name implies. No offense, but I honestly think people are better off going by their actual names (or alias if you so desire) when self promoting. You shine yourself in a false light when people see the word 'studio'. It makes people think that you are a group of people, but you are a single person; and a university student no less.. A group project could give themselves a name, and to some extent could class themselves as a studio, but honestly, for the interest of self promotion; I'd really just stick with your name. When it comes to networking, you really will be thankful for it.

ReplyDeleteI hear what you are saying Jon. PRL Studios is an experiment in branding, another point of contact and a way of boosting my online profile before I graduate next year.
Try and think of it like this, If I was a traditional artist who set up an easel in my living room, did a few paintings and sold them on, I would call it my studio. To everyone else it's my living room.
