Happy Feet 2 Flops - 600 Staff Lose Their Jobs.

Happy Feet 2

Unfortunately Happy Feet 2 has flopped (finacially) worldwide resulting in the loss of over 600 jobs from Dr D Studios (Australia). To add to the poor box office the project went over budget by $32 million and was heavily marketed. The film was made in conjunction with Warner Brothers who were convinced they had a hit. It goes to show that money and star power don't always make a hit.

Very sad for all involved.

  1. Yikes! The 3D animation market is far too over saturated and the stakes so high these days...

I'm just waiting to see what CG film will be a 'Heavens Gate' or 'One from the Heart' type disaster. It must surely be coming?

  2. Or an 'Ishtar' style finacial flop.

Hopefully, the good that comes from this is the realisation that 'churning' out sequels is not the way to go for studios.

  3. This will teach the industry that consumers will not buy anything they have to offer.
Money is not that easily made.
For years, movies have taken a hit in terms of their quality.
I am so disappointed that I don't bother to check what movies there are anymore.
Youtube is the way to go!
