Ba Hons CG Arts & Animation Showcase 2011/12

Welcome to the Ba Hons CG Arts & Animation Showcase.

Ba (Hons) CG Arts & Animation is a young, innovative degree course at the University for the Creative Arts at Rochester, Kent.  Our students are taught Autodesk Maya by an alumnus of the Gnomon School of Visual Effects, West Hollywood.  Curricula includes life-drawing, concept art and digital painting, texture painting, animation, digital editing, story-development, and character design. We aim to produce confident students able to adapt readily to the demands of self-initiated or commissioned project work.  We focus on developing high level technical ability in combination with the critical, creative and intellectual attributes required for the generation of distinctive CGI.

“For me, CG Arts & Animation has been a totally new experience of my creativity.  In order to produce something entertaining and visually exciting, I’ve had to be a whole studio in one - the animator, the designer, the writer, the production designer, the modeller, the film director, the editor… Put simply, CGAA brings out the best in you. Just watch as your imaginary worlds become real.”  Jolanta Jasiulionyte

“To sum the course up in one word?  Amazing.  Every part of the course is enjoyable and useful, ranging from improving your fine art skills to completing rendered scenes in Maya. There is a great learning culture on the course; everyone is always there and willing to help.  You’ll start year one learning basic Photoshop skills and finish by producing your first cg animation.” Richard Vosper-Carey
