Sky Dome HELP!

To finish of my exterior scene and aid in the lighting process i felt is was appropriate to add a sky dome, but i cant get the damn thing to work. As you can see when i render pre skydome, the scene renders with the desired effect, although when i render the scene post skydome, the lighting in the scene decides not to work and i get these weird shadows in the sky, I'm rendering in software with ray trace shadows. Some body help!!!

  1. Some basic things to check, make sure in the Render Stats for your sky dome, that Cast and Receive Shadoes are UNchecked. If you've got a directional light in the scene, the light from it will not be able to pass through the dome even if the directional light is within it, until you uncheck Cast Shadows.

  2. And just an after thought, since you're not using final gathering to render, IMO you should render the sky in a separate layer and then comp it into your scene using AE or something. You won't have to worry about lighting problems and it will be easier to tweak if you feel the colour or brightness is off a bit.
