CGAA One-A-Day: Pivot

Designed and animated by Kevin Megens, Floris Vos, Arno de Grijs, and André Bergs, Pivot is supremely stylish, rich in menace, with a final reel that spirals out into nightmarish inescapability...

  1. This reminds me of Tales of the Unexpected or something similar. Great stylisation and lighting, very noir. I loved the abstractions that were created as the pursuit sped through the stacks of pallets, and the environments seemed very real world despite the limitations of such low poly modelling.
    Cheers for this one Phil

  2. Love Love Love IT! I love the fear of being entrapped and in an endless cycle. It really brings out a sticky sensation for me, the way it moves and sounds effects, it just adds to the maze. When the "Pivot" happens it made me realize no one is incontrol at all. I LOVE the switch of fear in the eyes especially. Amazing work

  3. I didn't like it. The proportions where odd. The only bit that was really good was when the orange character enters the warehouse. The moment he loses that horrible reflective low poly texture. I really appreciated the part where both of them are against the door. The rest was dull.

  4. Anyone else have a view? Personally, I found the 'odd proportions' very satisfying! I too enjoyed the 'tracer' effect as they ran, and the dynamic editing throughout. I look forward to hearing what other people felt about it.

  5. I liked it, but right from the beginning I knew the ending somehow. :D It is not about proportions, but expression, so everything is fine and beautifully shown. You might not like the style, but it is well done.

  6. Wow, the sound in that was really effective! You could really feel the panic from the characters through the sound and the emotions on their face, which I think is really impressive considering they weren't smoothed out. I really enjoyed the fact that the light and shadow turns into black and white, that was really nice at creating the nightmarish tone :D
