The Supplement: Dan Witz


In common with the paintings of Edward Hopper and tableaux of Gregory Crewdson, Dan Witz's paintings are richly cinematic and pregnant with suspense. In particular, Witz's images of lighted homesteads recall establishing shots from home-invasion slasher films, from John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) to Wes Craven's Scream franchise (1996 - 2011).
