FAO CGAA Year 1: Unit 6 Commission: Pol Winandy's Neuron

Pol Winandy is a CGAA Graduate - class of 2010 - and 'Neuron' was his response to his first year brief challenging him to transcribe an 'innerspace' process into a cg animation. I'm showcasing it here to inspire, but pay close attention to the bespoke, highly expressionistic soundscape, beautifully controlled camera work, with 'slow-ins' and 'slow-outs' and a real sense of the camera being suspended in fluid. Obviously, artistic license is much in evidence, as Pol emphasises the 'other-worldliness' of his environment and evokes an alien, sci-fi feel. I also want you to take notice of the 'total control' in evidence - art direction that encompasses everything from choice of accompanying font to colour palette and transitions.

Over on Pol's blog, (which I suggest you follow if you're not already doing so), he's kindly offering up a free texture pack to download. Thank you, Pol! Be sure to check out Pol's other animated shorts created during his time on CGAA here.
