Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows whether theres a way to control fur length using something like a texture map? I have a big rabbit that is basically finished, but I need long fur on some parts and quite short on others, and then even bald in most places. It would be easier if I didnt have to break him up into separate pieces to do this, help? thanks :)
BA Hons Computer Animation Arts is a 3 year degree course at the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester, UK.
Can't you just paint the UV texture map of the rabbit in greyscale. Have it darker where you want shorter hair and whiter where you need it longer. Just plug it into the length value :)
ReplyDeleteThat does sound most logical, if not have a quick google... you can add a texture map too all attributes and all can be animated apart from density. Don't forget to let the colour map to do alot of work for you
ReplyDeletemight be worth looking at normal maps and baking as im sure it will become extremely render intensive.
Heyy thanks guys, i did google it and found out that I could just make a greyscale map and drag it onto the length attribute, something I should have remembered from first year! and yeah jack, I figured this way would be the best way because I wouldnt have to split it into pieces, and we can get minimum fur with good results. going good :)
