I was wondering, how can you twist the mushroom while it grows ( similar to a time-lapse video) with a lattice deformer.
I have tried, but it all looks a bit dull, shall i rotate the whole mesh or the lattice points?
thank you Ruben

well i dont know about the latice, maybe u can cluster the points?? or you can do the mesh and use soft select to keep it all organic.
ReplyDeleteYou could use a lattice on the stalk of the mushroom and skin a simple rig to it, then animate the rig to twist as it grows?
ReplyDeletethanks, ill try it
ReplyDeleteusing a blend shape would be the easiest way to do what you want. make a duplicate of the geometry of your mushroom as it starts off, then change it to the final shape you want (by moving its vertices only, dont subdivide or add stuff), this can include twisting if you twist the geometry. doing this with a lattice is much harder.
ReplyDeleteyou can also put a lattice deformer on top of this for extra effect. as it blends inside the deformer you can have it so it twists more, etc.
ReplyDeletecheers Tod... I just did it :)
