Matchmove issue

I have followed alan's tutorial up to exporting into maya using the default settings with the motion tracking. When opening in maya the locators were meant to look like this:

But instead they ended up like this:

does anyone know what went wrong?

  1. Had the same issue!
You have to re load the sequence in Matchmover and auto track again as one of the files may be corrupt when exported

  4. As i have not seen the tutorial i cannot tell you exactly at what stage you have gone wrong here but i have a few suggestions that are common issues with tracking to help you determine what caused your strange result:

NB : 3D software cannot automatically change the placement of the tracked points upon importing, therefore, it seems there is an issue with the track itself..

    a) an incorrect value for the film back and/or focal length has been entered (in the tracking software) therefore causing the points to be interpreted differently during tracking, as the focal length information is used in the calculation of the "distance" of depth in the shot.

    b) an incorrect track resulting from a bad solve (again relevent to the film back and focal length) as if the focal length is incorrect the the solve will also calculate wrong. (this could be corrected by adjusting values and re-solving)

    c) a value not been entered on camera information

d)you may have alot of "rogue" tracked points (points that are not 'stuck' to the video) which will ultimately throw off the final solve

as i say i cannot determine an exact solution to this issue, as i have not seen this tutorial. If you still have isses with this, and email me the tutorial i will be able to give you further advice to where you are going wrong..
