Hey everyone first year Emma here. I stumbled across this artist today while watching tv and thought he might be of interest. Carl Warner is a photographer who had a particular interest in still life and when it came to his photography wanted to incorporate this in some way which lead to the incorporation of food in his work. He produces food still lifes which are actually mini scenes and some of them are so realistic that you have to do a double take so they are like illusions of reality. He searches for food which has a similar element to what he is trying to simulate even using salmon to achieve sea!
Carl says "I tend to draw a very conventional landscape [first] as I need to fool the viewer into thinking it is a real scene at first glance. It is the realisation of what the real ingredients are that brings a smile, and for me that's the best part."
You can find his website here http://www.carlwarner.com/
Also he was featured on tonight's episode of The One Show http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007tcw7
thanks for sharing, Emma :)
