FAO CAA Year 1: Story & Commission / Soundscape - Blog Submission Criteria 14/03/2017 @ 1pm

This is a reminder that you're submitting your Soundscape project to your blog only on Tuesday 14th March by 1pm.  Your submission post should be labelled accordingly: Blog submission - Soundscape.   Your submission post should only include the following: Your Soundscapes x 3 Your 'Sonic Concept' documentation (i.e. choose a method by which you can best articulate the ideas driving the design of each soundscape as a response to the image that inspired it; it might be a short written statement of intent, a 'word cloud' or text combined with supporting influence maps... Be imaginative and communicative). For your reference - the requirements of the brief:  You are asked to produce 3 x 30 second soundscapes in response to the images allocated to you at the briefing, which should demonstrate clearly your understanding of the principles of sound design and the ways in which its careful consideration can enrich time-based narrative structures...

FAO CAA Yr 1: Storytelling & Commission / Soundscape & FSTS Audio Available @ myUCA + Important Recap!

Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm today - a BIG multi-component briefing, but I got a sense you lot were excited and looking forward to getting stuck in - which is great!  I'm just dropping by to notify you that the audio from both of today's briefings are available now on myUCA.  There are a number of specific follow-up activities I want you to do now, which I'm listing below: 1) If you haven't done so already, get your 3 story words up on your blog and then visit your respective creative partners and offer up some of your immediate ideas to their three words.  I want a virtuous circle of easy, instinctive discussion - everyone gets a nice push at the start of the brief.  For a reminder of whom is in your 'creative collective' go here .   Just to be super clear about how I want this to work: you each offer up your thoughts on the three words of each your creative partners. By the end of the process, you should all have a whole bunch of ideas ...

With its emphasis on 'sound', presenting your 'soundscape' project visually can represent a challenge.  How, for example, to express a 'sonic concept'?  How to create engaging experiences of your sonic creations and likewise their creative development?  Take a look at these examples from Julien Van Wallendael's blog submission for guidance and inspiration! Sonic Concepts expressed as 'Word Clouds' These are Julien's three final soundscapes; note how sensitive graphic design and the addition of subtle animation  enrich the listening experience.
