Week-end en Foret (2006) by Xavier Zahra
To kick off the first animation 'One-A-Day', is CG short 'Week-end en Foret' by Xavier Zahra. Perhaps most relevant to the first years who are moving into the 'uncanny' project, this short animation is filled with typical horror and uncanny references but with a light-hearted twist by using the personification of a haunted mansion. Its a little creepy with some explicit violence, while it also contains scenes of CG nudity... so it may not be to everyone's liking - you have been warned!
Otherwise, its brilliantly animated and well worth a watch if you can stomach it - a real mix of horror and dark comedy.
I just noticed the creator Xavier Zahra actually left a comment on my original post on my blog, mentioning Monster House as a possible source of reference. Find the post and his comment here.
Hope this is a good start for our animation 'One-A-Day'!

ReplyDeleteThe Haunting it isn't! Thanks Leo - let's get this ball rolling!
ReplyDeleteNice post Leo, it's a very interesting animation and I really loved the camera moves. Only real crit I have of the piece is the setup seems a bit fast, if the opening scenes were drawn out a bit I think the death scenes would have been more intense.
ReplyDeletenice one Leo! Love this idea btw Phil!
ReplyDeleteGood - so, I'll be expecting you to host a few 'GGA 1AD' for the benefit of us all!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to take the one a day post for tomorrow if possible...I have a good animation in mind.
ReplyDeleteof course Phil! im usually posting on my own blog between projects.
ReplyDeleteThat is actually a great idea Phil! At last some animation on the group blog! :)
ReplyDelete@ Andriana - it goes for all first years too - if you see something, share it here - just use the one-a-day icon and remember to label the post too with the animation title, and any other relevant details.
ReplyDeleteI was about to go to bed... not sure if I can now...
