am i allowed to use both sides of the a1 sheet? or doe that go against the point of using 1 a1 piece of paper?

just use one side - but, maybe think about using layout paper/tracing paper + masking tape etc. to create layered drawings... could be very effective - drawings gathering and building and connecting like a coral reef!
