I'm not quite sure what you mean by start frame and end frame numbers?
But you can view the time line by frames as oppose to seconds, which is a hell of a lot more helpful when editing especially if you need to rerender bits etc.
If you look at the little blue numbers (refers to current position the on the time line) on the left of the timeline (just out of your screen shot) its got something like '(25.00fps)' writen next to it, anyway press 'ctrl+left click' on the blue numbers and that will switch the timeline to fps or time and something else (which I don't know what it reads in) Then just do that same to change back!
