Hey all, I'm Liam, a third year student.
Everyone is now using blogger on our course, and there's a nice community growing with people following each others blogs and helping each other with issues. Not everyone is linked up to each other though, and I thought a central blog for the course which everyone could post to would be a pretty nice idea. It would also mean that rather then relying on the slow blogfeed and having to surf through the 70 odd blogs that we have between us, we can just come straight to this one.
With a large knowledge base between everyone a lot of issues could be resolved fairly quickly, and so any problems can be posted here, and we will all have quick access to them.
Also if anyone has found any good tutorials, has started a new project blog, has had a breakthrough they're pleased with, or whatever else, they can whack it on here.
Just put a subject in the post title (eg. ISSUE - Blend Shapes, TUTORIAL - Advanced Rigging etc) and blog away.
If you want to join comment here with your email address (can't do it via linking) and I'll send you an author invite so you can post properly as with your personal blog. If you don't want your email address published then just send me one (liamscarlino@hotmail.com) saying that you want in.
When you've joined post saying hello, a link to your blog and whatever else you want.
Don't just follow, join in!
Cheers, hopefully hear from you all soon!

First! This is a nice idea and all, but I think it would be far better suited for a forum format. I have some webspace so I could set that up..
ReplyDeleteCan do man, you're right, I only put it on here because of the pre existing blogger community; it would mean one less website to visit so it wouldn't get ignored as everyone is always on here. I find forums die when people just stop checking in, like the facebook one did, which wouldn't really happen here. If you fancy a crack at it go for it though!
ReplyDeleteWhat's your email by the way? Can put you as author then.
ReplyDeleteYou're right mate, we'll stick with this!
ReplyDeleteJonathonsheckler@hotmail.co.uk
Sweet! Lets see how it goes, if it doesn't take off make up a forum? Adding you now x
ReplyDeleteNice idea! A forum may be a little more organised but you're right that regular activity is hard to maintain, it seems that interest is lost after a while. They're not hard to set up though, and subforums with specific topics might be a better way to find or make troubleshooting / tutorial threads.
ReplyDeleteEither way though I love the idea of having a place to kind of collaborate with people who are in the same field (1st year here) - bookmarked and followed. =D
Yeah, forum set is made for this sort of thing, lets give it a go on here for now and see how things pan out. I've added an archive at the bottom so it should be easy to find certain topics if the post titles say what's going on.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your email and blog address man? Will put you in! x
I've sent you my email Liam. I'm going to quickly advertise this effort on the Kiiro Blade blog.
