FAO CAA Yr 1: Contextual Studies / Start Time Change

From next Thursday onwards, your Contextual Studies sessions with Kath Abiker will begin at 1.30pm in the baseroom .  This means you need to be in attendance by 1.20pm, so Kath can begin on time.  The change is due to Kath's childcare commitments.  Your session will therefore conclude at 4.30pm.  This pattern will continue for the remainder of Term 1.  I'll change your printed timetables accordingly and announce when an updated version is ready to download.  Watch this space.  Can you please share this notification widely so all first year students are aware of this timetabling change.  Many thanks.

Post With The Most 30/09/2016

There's a posh word - interstice - that means the gap between things, which characterises this month's Post With The Mos t.   Computer Animation Arts has just welcomed thirty-one new first years into its community.  Everywhere is busy again as briefings abound, but it's early days and everyone is re-finding their feet.  We're in the moment just before an explosion of creative activity lights up our community of blogs.  It's like the intake of breath before some fabulous aria or the second-or-so before a firework opens out so brilliantly against the night sky... The first year experience kicks off with our perennial summer project challenging incoming new recruits to conjure 101 original creations from a miscellany of otherwise inanimate objects.  It's always a joy to see the sheer diversity of outcomes and this is a tiny selection of what our newbies came up with... It all starts here - the original object sheets Dave McCleery Thu

FAO Yr 1, 2, 3: CAA Computer Suites Open This Saturday (September 24th)

It's an Open Day this Saturday at UCA Rochester, which means the CAA Computer Suites will be open from 9am to 2.00pm .  Open Days always make more sense when there are students cluttering up the place, so feel free to join us.  I'll be presenting to parents and prospective students down in the baseroom from about 12.30pm, but that doesn't mean you can't be there - it just means you need to look creative and studios - and not heckle!  See you on Saturday - and spread the word.

FAO CAA Yr 2 & 3: Animation Fridays & You - A Reminder

This is just a reminder to our second and third years that Friday is 'Animation Friday' for the first years, which means they'll be working on the PCs and Macs in the baseroom and on some of the PCS in the Blue Room - and they'll also be in DM5 with Simon.  There are 31 first years, which means groups of 15/16.  This means there should be 4-5 spare PCs in the Blue Room and likewise in DM5 on Fridays, but you should be aware that classes are going on around you and certainly seek permission from Simon Holland first if you want to work in and around his classes.  I'm pretty sure it will all work out, but Friday's are busy across the suite of computers and I wanted you to be aware.  If you could ensure the message gets out there, I'd appreciate it.  Many thanks.
