Today's animation from the Storycorps project is fascinating because in its brief running time it presents us with a real life character who so embodies the transformative, meritocratic promise of the American dream, his story almost feels too narrative, too fable-like. An instance of truth being, if not stranger than fiction, then more allegorical than fiction. Indeed, I can't believe Ronald E. McNair's story hasn't yet been made into an Oscar-winning film by the likes of Ron Howard, Zemeckis, or Spielberg himself. Inspiring stuff.
