CGAA One-A-Day: The Lady & The Reaper

The Lady & The Reaper (La dama y la muerte) by Javier Recio Gracia is a hoot and was Oscar nominated for Best Animated Short Film 2010. In light of Unit 4, I've suggested a number of first years take a look at it, in terms of its sheer verve and knock-about energy - but here it is as part of your one-a-day supplement for all and sundry to enjoy.

  1. Thanks for posting this in your comment on my blog earlier, it gave me some interesting ideas to develop from, especially along the line of pushing my executioner character into a grim reaper style. Also i love the comical value in this, along with the running story, a main clever part that i picked up on was when their chased the wheel chair down the, ever lasting stairs it seemed, which then went up and down like a heart beat, relating the the subject matter and the story plot.
Great short film and well animated.

  2. yes - the wheelchair section - when it eschews 'realism' for that strong, bold style is just very satisfying and proof positive that animation can take some big changes in style without flying part.
